MetroPlus Lifestyle Show from tomorrow

Bangalore: One exhibition after another, Bangalore seems to be attracting artisans and brands by the hordes, perhaps an indication of growing incomes. This December, South India’s largest consumer fair is back in the city for the second time, after tasting success at many other cities in the country.

The Hindu Metroplus Lifestyle Show 2007 promises to be a “consumer extravaganza” and the “ultimate shopping experience”, according to V. Kalidas, vice-president (Advertising), The Hindu.

As many as 240 stalls spread over 48,000 sq. ft. of air-conditioned space will put on sale a wide range of products ranging from consumer electronics, kitchen accessories and automobiles to cosmetics, handicrafts and textiles.

“The show has an international flavour to it with artists from Pakistan presenting decorative Onyx pieces and jewellery and handicrafts from Thailand,” Mr. Kalidas said. For jute lovers, the fair promises to be an exciting affair. The Jute Manufacturing Development Council (JMDC), an associate sponsor, would have 20 stalls for jute entrepreneurs from throughout the country, said Ayyappan from JMDC. “These stalls will have all kinds of jute products and present the latest developments in jute products,” he said. The chief sponsor of the event, Samsung will showcase its high end LCDs and Plasma televisions. Associate sponsors include General Motors and Ahsan Perfumes. NDTV 24X7 is the channel partner, Radio City 91.1 is the radio partner and Taj West End are the official hosts.

The show will be held from December 13 to 17 at RBANMS grounds, near Commercial Street, from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Entry tickets are priced at Rs. 40.
