Full-fledged airport demanded

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has reiterated his demand before the Centre for converting the existing airstrip at Jharsuguda in western Orissa into a full-fledged airport.

The establishment of an airport at Jharsuguda was necessary because western Orissa was witnessing the setting up of several mineral-based industries, Mr. Patnaik said.

According to an official release, the Centre had not taken any step to covert the airstrip into an airport despite assurances from the Airports Authority of India in this regard more than a year ago.
