BANGALORE: The Government on Tuesday suspended seven police officers who were among the 13 found by the Lokayukta police to be in possession of disproportionate assets to their known sources of income in November. While the Home Department suspended four officers of the rank of deputy superintendent of police and above, the Bangalore City Police Commissioner suspended three police inspectors. The police officers who have been suspended are Superintendent of Police Sreenivas Iyer; Assistant Commissioners of Police G.T. Ajjappa, B.A. Vishwanath Shetty and P. Purushottam; police inspectors H. Siddappa, H.S. Mariswamygowda and S.B. Mallikarjun. In a series of search conducted in Bangalore, Bellary and Bidar in November, the Lokayukta police found that the seven police officers, five Transport Department officials and an Irrigation Department official of Bidar, were in possession of disproportionate assets. The Lokayukta police registered cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
