Youth succumbs to injuries

CHENNAI: A 19-year-old youth died in the Government General Hospital here on Tuesday where he was admitted after suffering serious head injuries when the two-wheeler he was riding collided with another vehicle near Egmore Court.
Police said that when the victim, Imran Shariff of Perambur, rammed another two-wheeler coming in the opposite direction. He was rushed to the hospital in serious condition, where he succumbed to injuries. Anna Square traffic police said that the rider was not wearing helmet. It was placed on the rear of the vehicle.
Worker dies
A construction worker died on-the-spot after a large concrete slab fell on his head on the site he was working on Tuesday.
Police said that Samikannu (40) of Periyar Street, Sri Devi Nagar, was working at a construction site in Tiruvalluvar Street. During the demolition of a portion of the building, a slab fell on him. He was rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Avadi police have registered a case.
