NELLORE: A police team from Chennai visited Erur Allipuram of Chillakur mandal and interrogated Kavali Balaiah, father-in-law of arrested Maoist leader Nagireddy Panduranga Reddy, alias Sagar alias Pratap. The team arrived at Allipuram Dalitwada on Monday to interrogate Mr. Balaiah, who is also district president of the Kula Nirmoolana Porata Samithi, in connection with the arrest of Madhavi, wife of Mr. Sagar. Later, it picked him up but dropped him back in a few hours. Villagers grilledThe Chennai police team also grilled several villagers of Dalitwada to ascertain details pertaining to Madhavi alias Mary, the eldest daughter of Mr. Balaiah. It searched several houses, including Mr. Balaiah’s, the villagers claimed. Mr. Balaiah claimed that their family had come to know of the arrest of Madhavi at Chennai through the electronic media. According to the villagers, Madhavi’s original name was Kavali Meramma. She studied up to fifth class in a local elementary school. Her mother Jayamma is an Anganwadi teacher while her younger sister Swarna Latha and brother Gopi are studying in a polytechnic college in Hyderabad.
