“Post of Prime Minister is not in Advani’s horoscope”

Special Correspondent

Lalu Prasad

NEW DELHI: Taking potshots at Monday’s Bhartiya Janata Party’s announcement, Rashtriya Janata Dal president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said the post of Prime Minister was not in L.K. Advani’s horoscope.

Mr. Prasad was talking to newsmen on the sidelines of a function here on Tuesday.

Lok Jan Shakti Party leader and Union Steel and Mines Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan, who was also present, however, said: “It is their [BJP’s] internal party matter.”Mr. Prasad dismissed the National Democratic Alliance’s demand for removal of his RJD colleague and Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, following allegations of child labour on his brother’s farm in Vaishali district Bihar. “Why should he [Mr. Singh] resign? The demand is wrong.”

A TV channel showed two young boys allegedly being used as oxen to plough the land of Mr. Singh’s brother, Raghuraj. The incident rocked the Bihar Assembly on Monday.

‘Child labour is wrong’

“We do believe that child labour is wrong. Those people under whose regime these kinds of incidents are taking place should resign,” Mr. Prasad stated.
