ARAE regatta from today

KOLKATA: The Amateur Rowing Association of the East (ARAE), one of the premier rowing championships, will be held at the Rabindra Sarobar here from Wednesday. The 67th edition has attracted as many as 150 rowers from 11 clubs, including three foreign units from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong.

The Far Eastern Amateur Rowing Association (FEARA) regatta will also be held during the period, making it a double treat for the lovers of the sport. The two meets will be hosted by Lake Club.

The clubs in the fray: 1. Karachi Boat Club, 2. Colombo Rowing Club, 3. College of Military Engineering (Pune), 4. Govt College of Engineering (Pune), 5. Madras Boat Club, 6. Kodaikanal Boat Club, 7. Calcutta Rowing Club, 8. Calcutta University Rowing Club, 9. Bengal RC, 10. Lake Club and 11. Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. — Special Correspondent
