Central Zone wins

CHENNAI: Central Zone retained the overall championship in the all-India Ordnance Factories inter-zonal chess tournament here on Monday. Central’s Sinha Sudhir Kumar (4 points) won the individual championship.

The top four players from the individual event will represent Ordnance Factories Sports Control Board (Kolkata) in the forthcoming National ‘B’ tournament, organised by the AICF.

Final standings: Team: 1. Central (14.5), 2. North (11.5), 3. South (9.5), 4. East (7.5), 5. West (2): Individual: 1. Sinha Sudhir Kumar (CZ, 4), 2. Jaiswal DR (CZ, 3.5), 3. Prem Babu (NZ, 3.5), 4. O.P. Yadav (CZ, 3.5).
