Regional mother: K. Chandrashekar Rao unveils the statue of ‘Telangana Talli’ at Sangareddy on Wednesday. - Sangareddy: Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao called upon the people of Telangana to stop bearing flags of other political parties and unite under one banner till the formation of the State. Addressing a public meeting here on Wednesday after unveiling ‘Telangana Talli’ statue in front of the new Collectorate building here, Mr. Rao said that conversion of Telangana movement into a political force would certainly result in Statehood. He said that political parties like Congress, Telugu Desam, CPI(M) and CPI have failed to uplift the masses of the region and therefore they could be set aside for a while till a State is carved. “After the formation of Telangana go back to the parties you like, I have no problem with it” he declared. “All that the unemployed youth of Telangana got in 50 years of independence is Bombay, Dubai or Boggu bai(coal mine),” he said pointing out to the rampant unemployment in the region. He ridiculed the so-called Telugu Talli who had always shown a step-motherly treatment towards the people of the region. “Even the Maa Telugu Talli song that we are forced to sing is a lie as we do not have the golden harvest nor flowing rivers like Andhra” he reasoned out. Fluoride-affectedHe said that the Telangana Talli statue that was installed here is a moment of pride for the people. Reminding them of the plight of the fluoride-affected children of Nalgonda district, Mr. Rao said that the water which has been diverted to Penna delta through Pothyreddypadu could save precious lives. Alleging that lands of Medak district worth Rs. 5000 crore have been sold out by the Rajasekhara Reddy government in recent years, he wanted to know what percentage of the proceeds has been ploughed back into the local economy. Telangana ideologue K. Jayashankar and writer and speaker Desapathi Srinivas addressed the gathering. TRS Legislators Harish Rao, Padma Devender Reddy, Ramalinga Reddy, Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Padma Rao, Etela Rajender, Ravinder Reddy, MLCs Rahman, R.Satyanarayana, Dilip Kumar, party district president M. Raghunandan Rao and former chief engineer Vidyasagar Rao were also present. Earlier, TRS district cadre gave a tumultuous welcome to party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The road show winded its way through the main street of the town with regional folk troops like Bonalu, Peerlu, Batukammalu, Oggukatha leading the rally which ended at the ‘Telangana Talli’ statue.
