The leader speaks: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan at a public meeting organised as part of the CPI(M) district conference in Malappuram on Wednesday. Malappuram: The newly elected Malappuram district committee of the CPI(M) will have three new faces. DYFI leaders K.P. Anil and T.M. Siddique and SFI leader M. Swaraj will replace Kerala State Karshaka Thozhilali Union (KSKTU) leader K. Bapu and party leaders Assain Karat and V.P.S. Nambisan. The new committee, suggested by the outgoing one, assumed office after they won the elections on Wednesday. A meeting of the panel was held soon under the chairmanship of Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty. Outgoing district secretary K. Saidalikutty suggested the name of K. Ummer who was elected unanimously to the post. The meeting also elected 25 members to attend the State conference of the party to be held in January 2008 in Kottayam. However, the party office-bearers refused to reveal the names of the members who were selected to attended the Kottayam conference. The other members of the new committee are V.V. Gopinath, P. Nandakumar, P.P. Vasudevan, V. Sasikumar, Koottayi Basheer, T.K. Hamza, C. Divakaran, K.P. Mohammed, George K. Antony, E.N. Mohandas, C.H. Ashique, T.P. Sulfikar Ali, I.T. Najeeb, M.M. Narayanan, E.V. Mohanan, P. Jyotidas, V.P. Zacharia, P.P. Abdullakutty, M. Mohammed, Velayudhan Vallikunnu, T.P. Mohammed Kutty, A.P. Abdurahman, P.T. Ummer, C. Vijayalakshmi, V. Prabhakaran, K. Ramadas, T.P. George, K.P. Ramanan, P. Sreeramakrishnan, K.P. Sumati, K.P. Anil, M. Swaraj, and T.M. Siddeeque. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, Paloli Mohammed Kutty, E.P. Jayarajan, T. Sivadasa Menon, A. Vijayaraghavan, P. Karunakaran and Vaikom Viswan addressed the delegates on Wednesday. A red volunteer march was taken out. Hundreds of young volunteers in red and khaki uniforms marched from Kottakunnu Road down to the Kottappadi Grounds. The Chief Minister inaugurated a valedictory function there and addressed the gathering.
