KADAPA: Eight persons sustained injuries when rivals groups within Congress clashed with country-made bombs on bagging a contract for renovation of a tank in Alavalapadu in Vempalle mandal in Pulivendula constituency on Wednesday. Former single window society president Ramanjula Reddy and MPTC member Rami Reddy had a verbal duel on the issue last night and Rami Reddy group attacked the rival group members with stones, according to the police. Ramanjula Reddy group retaliated by hurling bombs and six of them exploded, causing injuries to eight persons of both groups, police stated. Konda Reddy, Balaswamy Reddy, Ramagangi Reddy and Chandra Obul Reddy of Ramanjula Reddy group and Gajjela Rami Reddy, Narayana Reddy, Chinna Nagi Reddy and Rami Reddy of Rami Reddy group sustained injuries in the group clash.Kadapa Superintendent of Police Y. Nagi Reddy rushed to the village and took stock of the situation. He described the situation in Alavalapadu village as under control. Pulivendula circle inspector Rajeswar Reddy and sub-inspectors Surendranath Reddy and Parthasarathi Reddy seized seven bombs from a person of Ramanjula Reddy group. Cases were booked against 17 persons of Rami Reddy group and 13 in Ramanjula Reddy group, the SP said.
