NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will start a new feeder bus service in Janakpuri from Thursday. The service will cover both the Metro stations -- Janakpuri East and Janakpuri West. The feeder service will cover Janakpuri (East) Metro station, B2B Janakpuri, B2 Community Centre, B2 Shiv Nagar, B3 Bharatiya Mahila College, BSES Colony, Janak Cinema, C3 CSML Colony, Dabri More, Sitapuri,C4D, C4G, Janakpuri C1 Gate, CSD DMS Booth, St. Mark Academy, A1 Market, Hari Mandir and Janakpuri (West) Metro station. Five buses will run on this 8 km route initially with a frequency of 15 minutes. The frequency will be brought down to 10 minutes subsequently with the addition of another bus on this route. The DMRC officials said the buses have a seating capacity for 18 to 20 passengers with standing capacity for 10 and the fare will be Rs.5 up to 8 km and Rs.8 beyond that. The feeder buses have advanced technical facilities and are equipped with Global Positioning System technology. Thirty-six feeder routes have been short listed so far for which 419 buses are required. At present, two routes from Shastri Park Metro station and Pitampura Metro station are running and other routes are in the pipeline.
