Post-matric scholarships

HYDERABAD: The State government has decided to extend scholarships for economically backward post-matric students belonging to Kapu, Balija, Telaga, Vantari and seven other communities on a par with students of the Backward Classes from the next academic year.The government has decided to make budgetary provision to the tune of Rs. 15 crore from the next financial year towards this end. Scholarships are presently being extended to EBC students of these 11 communities for students undergoing graduation and professional courses with an estimated Rs. 7 crores.

The decision was announced by Finance Minister K. Rosaiah after a meeting with Ministers Kanna Lakshminarayana, Botcha Satyanarayana and Mandali Buddha Prasad and MLA Vatti Vasanta Kumar here on Wednesday. .
