TDP ready to review stand on reforms
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has hinted at the party reviewing its stand on economic reforms and the World Bank in the process of getting closer to the Left parties.
In response to a question at a press conference here on Wednesday, he pointed out that the party in anyway was in discussion with the Left parties on concerns relating to economic reforms.
They were prepared to have more such discussions on such issues as well strengthening their relationship, the objective being improving the lot of the poor.
On increase in minimum support price (MSP) for agriculture produce and implementing recommendations of the report of the National Commission for Farmers headed by M.S. Swamination, Mr. Naidu accused the State government and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy of adopting double standards.
The TDP chief said while the resolution adopted in the Assembly spoke of 50 per cent enhancement as per Swaminathan’s recommendation, the memorandum submitted to the Centre wanted just 20 per cent, he pointed out.
