Christians oppose proposed Bill

KADAPA: The Government has proposed to enact Christian Properties (Protection) Bill to prevent encroachment of Christian properties, on the request of Christian Missionaries, M.A. Quddus, Additional Secretary of Minority Welfare said on Wednesday.
He sought suggestions from Christian religious leaders, elders and academicians on the draft bill at a regional workshop at Noor-e-Jehan shaadikhana here. The Bill would be suitably modified to give it more teeth basing on the suggestions, he said and there was no need for doubts among Christians regarding it.
Bishop Yesu Varaprasad and K. Rajarathnam Isaac sported black badges and announced boycott of the workshop. District Minority Welfare Officer S.A. Wahab and pastors of Kadapa, Chittoor, Kurnool and Anantapur participated.
