Jeweller robbed in Nandini Layout Crime notes

BANGALORE: Armed men attacked a jeweller and robbed him of Rs. 90,000 cash and gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 1.75 lakh in Nandini Layout police station limits on Tuesday night.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Syed Ulfath Hussain said that around 10.30 p.m., Paras Kumar, who owns a jewellery shop in Kanteeravanagar, was returning home on his motorcycle after closing the shop. Two men, riding a motorcycle, intercepted Kumar’s two-wheeler near Nandini Layout Club. The pillion rider got down from the motorcycle and pointed a knife at Kumar. Following a scuffle, Kumar fell on the road. The robber snatched a bag containing cash and jewellery from Kumar and escaped on the motorcycle with his accomplice, Mr. Hussain said. On a complaint by Kumar, the Nandini Layout police have registered a case.

Brown sugar seized

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) staff on Monday arrested Nazim (32) on charge of drug peddling and seized from him 52 grams of brown sugar, estimated at Rs. 2 lakh in the international market.

The police said Nazim, a resident of Meenakshi Koil Street in Bharathinagar, was selling the substance near a tea stall in Chinnappa Garden in J.C. Nagar police station limits.

Kerosene seized

The Nelamangala police in Bangalore Rural district on Monday raided a farmhouse at Tonachinakuppe village, arrested three persons and seized a truck containing 27 barrels of kerosene. The police said the arrested men, Babu, Vinod Kumar and Gopal, had illegally stored the kerosene at the farmhouse.

Recovered

The Central police on Monday arrested Kiran (27) of Parvathipura and recovered from him a car he had allegedly stolen from Wilson Garden police station limits. Kiran, accused in vehicle theft cases earlier, was caught while he was trying to sell the car which he had stolen earlier in the day, the police said.

Killed in accident

Raju (30) of Thotadahalli was killed after he rammed his motorcycle against a stationary lorry in Sathanur police station limits on Tuesday. The police said the accident occurred near Devegowdanadoddi while Raju was returning from the Kabalamma temple.
