Ward member cremated amid tight security

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Confusion over the cause of the death of Aliabad village ward member Satyanarayana continued even as the forensic doctors of the Gandhi Medical College performed the autopsy on Wednesday and reserved their opinions. The body was brought to his village and cremated in the night amid tight security.

Police sources said the forensic doctors did not find any external injuries on the body. A ligature mark on the neck strengthened the theory of the victim hanging himself. However, the victim’s family members were sceptical of this possibility.

“Instances of bodies being found in kneeling position in suicide cases are not uncommon. But some matters are yet to be examined before ascertaining exact causes of death,” the forensic experts reportedly told the police. Probe was on to find out if he was forced to consume liquor and died of its excessive consumption, the police said.

The 40-year-old ward member of Aliabad in Shamirpet on city outskirts was found dead in an abandoned house of the village with his body hanging to the ceiling on Tuesday morning.

The death sparked violence with the victim’s relatives and locals attacking four houses alleging that he was murdered by four of his friends hailing from the same village after partying on Monday night. Based on the complaint given by the victim’s family members, the police registered a murder case.

Hunt was on to catch four villagers, Damoder Reddy, Satti Reddy, Venkataramana and Krishna with whom he partied.
