He has been granted anticipatory bail by High Court
|
CHENNAI: AIADMK MP N. Jothi, who was granted conditional anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court on December 3, has filed a modification petition seeking deletion of a condition that he deposit Rs.10,27,504.
As for the other direction that he execute a bond for Rs.25,000 before the investigating officer, the petitioner sought permission to execute it before the Principal Sessions Court here.
Referring to the order passed by Justice T. Sudanthiram, the petitioner further contended that the order deid not mention why the court had come to such a conclusion.
The issue of bail or anticipatory bail could not be a “matter of barter,” and “the question whether to grant anticipatory bail or not depends not on payment of money…”
The matter relates to a case registered by the CB-CID police, alleging that Mr. Jothi caused the wrongful loss of over Rs.10 lakh to the exchequer by travelling by air to New Delhi and occupying a suite in the Tamil Nadu House for months on the pretext of attending Cauvery Water Tribunal proceedings.
