JCI projects take off

HELPING HAND: Union Minister S. Regupathi with a beneficiary.
ARANTHANGI: Inauguration of welfare projects and distribution of assistance marked the installation of a new team of office-bearers of the Junior Chamber India (JCI), Aranthangi Central, recently.
Union Minister for Environment and Forests S. Regupathi, who was the chief guest, commended the yeoman service rendered by JCI for uplift of the poor and downtrodden in rural areas. He inaugurated JCI’s social welfare projects and assured his support for their successful implementation.
He distributed sewing machines to poor women and fencing material to the inmates of the Vallalar Special Children Orphanage Home. He handed over neem and mango saplings to school and college students.
Poet Nandhalala, guest of honour, appreciated the JCI’s performance, especially in conducting projects for developing leadership qualities in college and school students.
J. Ramakrishnan was installed as president, Veeramakaliyappan as secretary and Ramasamy as treasurer. Twenty-three youths from different fields were inducted as members of JCI.
Aranthangi Municipality chairman P. Mariappan, Zone XVIII president S.P. Ganeshan, vice-president Kumaresan, JCI Aranthangi Central president, A.B. Gurumoorthy, Aranthangi Chamber of Commerce president C. Kailasanathan and Naina Mohamed Educational Trust chairman Mohamed Farook offered felicitations.
