‘Legislators should be more responsible’
Staff Reporter
TIRUMALA: Assembly Speaker K. Suresh Reddy on Wednesday categorically stated that elected representatives like legislators should conduct themselves in a more responsible manner while in the House.
The Speaker said that they should not forget that they are being elected to represent people’s cause and that any deviation from the discussions would mean waste of public money and precious time. Unfortunately, he said that some of the politicians, forgetting that they are in the House, speak as if they are addressing a public meeting which is not at all desirable. The legislators should not forget that the people are keenly watching Assembly proceedings and that their behaviour is under strict screening of the public eye.
The Speaker said that there was a need for a change in the way the Assembly proceedings are being conducted. The Speaker, who reached Tirumala on foot, stayed overnight and had darshan of the presiding deity in the early hours of Thursday.
