Visitors at the Ganjam Book Fair that was inaugurated at Khallikote College stadium in Berhampur on Thursday. — BERHAMPUR: The second Ganjam book fair was inaugurated at Khallikote Autonomous College stadium on Thursday evening. Although book sellers and publishers from all parts of the State and outside were taking part in the fair, its main aim was to promote book publishers of south Orissa, said president of the organising committee of the fair Alekh Choudhury. Vice-Chancellor of Berhampur University Bijay Kumar Sahu inaugurated the book fair. The inaugural function was also attended by Berhampur MLA R.C.C. Patnaik. A large number youths were initial visitors to the fair. A seminar on book fair movement in the State followed the inaugural function. Mr. Sahu said that the movement picked up in all parts of the State. He advised book sellers to reach out to people living in remote districts. Cultural showsMost of the speakers were of the opinion that book fairs were also serving as a platform to promote Oriya literature among the youth as they get a chance to go through a variety books published recently and interact with writers. The book fair has more than 70 stalls. The book fair would continue till December 20. Specials seminars on Oriya literature and cultural shows by different organisations of the city would be held daily at a special stage put up at the venue.
