Rice shops raided in Kollam

KOLLAM: The District Supply Office on Thursday conducted raids on the shops of 28 rice dealers in the district for detailed examination of stocks.

However, no seizures were mabe. The raid was led by District Supply Officer A. Sasikumar.

Of the 28 shops raided, five were in Kollam taluk, four in Kottarakara, five in Pathanapuram and 14 in Karunagapally.

Mr. Sasikumar said boiled rice at the rate of Rs.14 a kg and raw rice at Rs.13 a kg was being sold in the district through the 96 retail outlets directly managed by the Civil Supplies Department and also through the 388 outlets of the primary cooperative societies.
