Kakinada: A mega medical camp for the physically challenged will be organised at Balayogi Pranganam in Amalapuram on December 18 as part of the Bharat Nirman programme.

After the screening, which would be done on that day, implements like tricycles and calipers would be distributed on December 19, Joint Collector G.S.R.K.R. Vijay Kumar announced in a press conference here on Thursday.

He said the five-day Bharat Nirman would commence on December 15. On all the days, a medical camp would be conducted by doctors including some from New Delhi, covering 14 specialties. They would do the tests and distribute medicines free of cost.

The main event is aimed at spreading awareness on the flagship schemes of the Central Government like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, National Rural Health Mission, Right to Information, Integrated Child Development Scheme and Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. There will also be live models and audio-visual presentations on the schemes.

Total 80 stalls will be put up by 66 departments. The programme is intended to facilitate all-round development of the country at par with other countries which are making rapid progress.

The Union Minister of State for Health Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi will inaugurate the programme. Amalapuram MP GV Harsha Kumar will preside over the inaugural function.
