‘Gangrape’: two held

BHUBANESWAR: A 17-year-old girl from Kandhmal district alleged that she was gangraped by six unidentified persons near Raj Bhawan on Tuesday night.

The police, on Thursday, detained two persons in connection with the incident.

Though the victim mentioned about involvement of six persons , the police said that four persons could be involved. According to the complaint, the victim was staying with her brother-in-law and cousin sister’s house near Raj Bhawan.

On Tuesday night, six persons knocked the door when she was alone in the house. As she did not open the door, the miscreants allegedly broke into the house.

“Two persons raped me in the house while four others incapacitated me,” the complainant stated. Thereafter, the perpetrators allegedly took her away in a car and raped her for the second time in a dilapidated house. The victim said that she heard five names Tukuna, Kulu, Manoj, Ranjit, and Dillip. She said Tukuna was allegedly leading the gang.

The police picked up Tukuna, a home guard in the State police, and Kulu, a temporary worker with 120 Battalion. The victim was sent to Capital Hospital for medical examination.
