Home Ministry Task Force meet held

BHUBANESWAR: The Task Force of the Union Home Ministry on naxalism on Thursday stressed synergy between development and security preparedness for effective combat against left wing extremists.

Briefing the media after inaugural day of Task Force meeting here, its chairman M. L. Kumawat, special secretary (internal security) in the Home Ministry, said implementation of welfare programmes had to be matched with security preparedness to tackle extremists.

Expressing satisfaction over the State Government’s preparedness over the security matter, Mr Kumawat said owing to proactive strategies the naxalite-related violence had gone down in many States barring few incidents in Chhattisgarh.

Top police officials of nine States, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa and Uttar Padesh participated in the meeting.
