GULBARGA: The State Government should introduce legislation to prevent exploitation of people in the name of “banamati”, Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University B.G. Mulimani has said. Delivering a speech after inaugurating a workshop on “banamati” at V.G. Women’s College here, he said that the Government should take note of the practice and initiate steps to eradicate it. He gave a call to the members of the Banamati Nirmulana Samiti to adopt banamati-affected villages and strive to create awareness among people on such practices. Along with creating awareness on “banamati”, it was also important to prevent exploitation of people, he said.
