Uttarakhand in cold wave grip

DEHRA DUN: Rain and snowfall continued in the higher areas of Uttarakhand on Thursday pulling down the temperatures further with the State Metrological Centre director, Anand Sharma, saying that the situation should improve in the next 24 hours.

One man was killed due to intense cold in Dhanaulti area near Mussoorie. The victim was said to be insane and moving about in the chill for the last two days.

Social workers have urged the Government to provide for bonfires in all towns to keep the poor and the homeless warm. The worst hit are the labourers who come here from distant places.
