Kota city and Alwar district to be developed as “centres of excellence” The Discom will reduce transmission and distribution losses JAIPUR: To attract investors to Rajasthan by ensuring uninterrupted power supply to their projects, the Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam has formulated special plans worth Rs.436 crore to develop Kota city and Alwar district – falling in the National Capital Region – as “centres of excellence”. Nigam’s Chairman and Managing Director R.G. Gupta said here on Thursday that the plans, envisaging a quality customer service and regular power supply, had been sent to the NCR Planning Board for its approval. “Evolving an investor-friendly atmosphere in the State requires the availability of electricity of good quality for new units of entrepreneurs,” said Mr. Gupta. He added that the plans to make Kota and Alwar energy-efficient were prepared under the “Resurgent Rajasthan” drive and would be completed in the next three to four years. The plans are proposed to be implemented after getting loan at low interest rates from the Planning Board. Mr. Gupta affirmed that the Jaipur Discom would save crores of rupees every year on their completion. The Discom will reduce transmission and distribution losses by constructing new sub-stations, increasing the capacity of old sub-stations, strengthening the electricity supply network and improving the day-to-day customer services by an intelligent combination of its operations with modern technology. Mr. Gupta said the special plan for Alwar region, valued at Rs.315 crore, entailed renovation of 228 feeders, construction of eight new sub-stations, installation of a new 30-km-long service line and a 25-km-long interconnection line of 11 KV, and establishment of new three-phase and single-phase transformers. In addition to an annual reduction of Rs.7.62 crore in the maintenance cost, the plan is expected to improve the metering system of about 20,000 consumers. In Kota city, Rs.120 crore are proposed to be spent on establishing 17 new sub-stations, installing a 300-km-long overhead line and a 40-km-long underground cable, and establishing 700 new transformers of 981.50 MVA capacity, besides laying a 700-km-long low tension (LT) insulated and conductor lines.
