CLEANING DRIVE: Chennai Corporation workers sweep the service lane along the Marina beach on Wednesday.

Chennai: The Chennai Corporation took up a special drive to clean a stretch of a service road along the beach on Wednesday. The service road, frequented by hundreds of visitors every day, was littered and coated with sand. About 50 workers swept the road.

The Corporation is also in charge of keeping the beach sands clean.

Earlier, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) had the responsibility of keeping the beach clean.

A release from the Corporation said that the beautification project work along the beach from Rajaji Salai to Napier Bridge and the Marina stretch has commenced.

Landscaping in the lawns along the Kamaraj Salai would be done as part of the project.
