Relapse wing at TTK Hospital opened

CHENNAI: ‘Poorna’, a wing at TTK Hospital to rehabilitate those relapsing into alcoholism and drug addiction, was inaugurated on the hospital premises in Adyar on Wednesday.

Spread over 6,000 sqft., the wing can accommodate 22 patients. There is also a separate area to accommodate family members of the patients. The new wing would equip patients with the essential skills to tackle the addiction. The facility has been funded largely by the Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation.

Commending the services of TTK Hospital, B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore, said every individual must be involved in social service to experience the essence of fulfilment.

Awareness of alcohol and drug abuse must be created at the school and college levels. .

Chairman of Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation V.L. Dutt highlighted the activities of the foundation. He appreciated the various initiatives of TTK Hospital.

Director of The Hindu Nalini Krishnan said the hospital made an immense impact on society through its commitment to rehabilitate alcohol and drug addicts.
