Neha sizzles, Sharmila leads

MUMBAI: Neha Tripathi came up with the day’s best card of 77 in the WIGA-sponsored Ladies’ 58th Western India open amateur golf championships at the Bombay Presidency Golf course here. The Kolkata golfer’s eight over 77 was one better than leader Sharmila Nicollet’s though she trails the latter by 12 strokes in the gold division.

Sharmila played consistently to remain ahead of the pack. The Bangalore golfer had a 40 on the first nine and a 38 on the return leg.

The results:

Gold Division: 1. Sharmila Nicollet 222, 2. Shraddhanjali Singh (USA) 231, 3. Neha Tripathi 234, 4. Sonam Chugh 239, 5. Gurbani Singh and Shweta Galande 242, 6. Nalini Singh 243, 7. Sonavi Chopra 244 and 8. Gauri Monga 247.

Silver Division: 1. Bunty Khanna 268, 2. Pratiksha Ravi 270, 3. Radha Mathai 274, 4. Gursimer Badwal 276 and 5. Raksha Phadke 276. — Special Correspondent
