Each of them has an outstanding Grand Slam record Mahesh’s partnership with Sania also excellent BANGALORE: Mahesh Bhupathi’s coach Scott Davidoff is confident Bhupathi and Mark Knowles of Bahamas will make a great pair. On the sidelines of the ongoing tennis camp at Bhupathi Tennis Village, Davidoff said: “I don’t see any reason why this pair cannot succeed. Both are great athletes and good friends and can perfectly complement each other on the court. Each of them has an outstanding Grand Slam record. Knowles, especially, had a great season, which included winning the Masters title and French Open titles with Daniel Nestor and finishing No. 4 in the World doubles ranking. As long as they stay fit, they should make a pretty strong team in 2008. He said the new pair had every chance of a winning a Grand Slam title, if things go their way during the season. Teaming with SaniaDavidoff was also happy about Mahesh’s partnership with Sania Mirza in the mixed doubles event of the Australian Open. “That again is an excellent combination which is capable of achieving some big results,” said the coach. Rohan Bopanna, the Indian Davis Cupper, who is also part of the camp which has Mahesh Bhupathi training along with Sania Mirza, also said he was looking for a good season and wanted to start well with a good show in the Hopman Cup. Bopanna said he was keen to maintain his fitness level and was aiming to break into the top 150. “Key for it is to play more higher level Challengers,” he said.
