Ramanathan Krishnan gets ASPU honour

CHENNAI: Indian tennis legend, Ramanathan Krishnan has been nominated for the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by the Asian Sports Press Union (ASPU) as part of its inaugural Asian sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year (2006) awards, it was announced in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

The ASPU, in collaboration with Stropt & Sports Limited (Hong Kong) named Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang of China and Malaysia’s world squash champion Nicol Ann David for the Asian Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year (2006) awards.

Other winners of the Asian Sports Awards (ASA) include the South Korean short track speed skating team (Asian Team of the Year-Men), Chinese badminton doubles team of Gao Ling and Huang Sui (Asian Team of the Year-Women), and former Pakistani cricketer, Imran Khan (Humanitarian Award).
