Anand and Dola to be honoured

NEW DELHI: The Government has finally decided to honour the feats of the World chess champion Viswanathan Anand and the archery World Cup finals winner, Dola Banerjee.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Thursday announced a cash award of Rs. 10 lakh each to Anand and Dola in appreciation of their outstanding achievements.

Anand won the World chess championship in Mexico City in September, while Dola won World Cup finals in women’s recurve division in Dubai in November. — Principal Correspondent
