ACP summoned in Mona Suri murder case
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A city court on Thursday summoned an Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Mona Suri murder following allegations that the probe in the case has been shoddy.
Metropolitan Magistrate Tarun Kumar Sehrawat asked the ACP (Greater Kailash) to appear before him on December 17 and explain the alleged lapse.
Ms. Suri, 35-year-old fashion designer, was allegedly set afire by two motorcycle borne men who poured kerosene oil on her outside her house on August 12. She succumbed to her injuries on October 21.
Father of the deceased, Manjeet Bawa, had alleged in the court that though the police had seized a diary in which his daughter had hinted towards ill-treatment at the hands of her husband Naveen Suri, no breakthrough has been achieved as yet. Naveen was apparently having an affair with another woman to which his wife objected.
Earlier, the police had filed a status report in the court on December 11. The report, however, did not allegedly contain the details of investigations.
