Workshop on climate change

KOCHI: A workshop on impact of climate change on the agricultural sector in tropical countries will be held at the College of Fisheries, Panangad, on Friday.

It is being organised by the WTO Cell of the Department of Agriculture, and Kerala Agricultural University. K.R. Viswambharan, Vice-Chancellor of KAU, said temperature change of 0.5 degrees centigrade had been reported in Kerala. Temperature rise of 1-3 degree centigrade during summer affected crops like black pepper, cocoa and cardamom, he said. The proposals emerging from the workshop will be submitted to the government.
