Man arrested for bid to steal lorry

A 22-year old man, who tried to drive away a lorry using fake keys, was caught by members of the public at Ariyamangalam and was handed over to the police on Wednesday night.

The lorry was seized and the accused, B. Dhanasekaran (22), was later sent to judicial custody.

Police said the lorry driver, R. Rajeshkanna of Nehruji Nagar at Ariyamangalam, parked the vehicle in front of his house when Dhanasekaran boarded the lorry and started driving the vehicle using a duplicate key.

Rajeshkanna and members of the public chased and caught Dhanasekaran.

The Ariyamangalam police have registered a case.
