Multiplicity of authority not good: Sheila Dikshit
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has said multiplicity of authority has been leading to inordinate delays in implementation of policy initiatives for alleviating the problems faced by the citizens. Speaking at a Bhagidari workshop here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said Delhi was a unique and an outstanding city-State that faced multifarious challenges and responsibilities. “Multiplicity of authority is the biggest bottleneck on the road to my Governments efforts to implement plans and policies for meeting the aspirations of the people,” she added. Stating that ”a duly elected government has to be accountable and responsible”, she said, this was, however, not possible if it has a ”diffused mandate wherein the relevant institutions are not accountable to it”.
