Murder accused, bullion trader from Kerala stabbed to death Crime notes

BANGALORE: A man with criminal antecedents and a bullion trader from Kerala were stabbed to death in two incidents reported from Banaswadi and Chickpet police station limits on Wednesday.

The police said that around 9 p.m. three men waylaid Zakria (26), a resident of Babusapalya, near Kullappa Circle in Banaswadi, and stabbed him in the chest and abdomen. He died on the spot.

According to the police, Zakria, an accused in an attempt to murder case, was released from jail 15 days ago. The Banaswadi police, who have registered a case, suspected that his rivals could have murdered him.

In the other incident, a man stabbed Hakeem (30), a gold trader from Kerala, and tried to snatch his bag containing Rs. 35 lakh in cash.

The incident took place around 9.45 p.m. at the crowded Chickpet Circle when Hakeem and his employee, who was carrying another bag containing Rs. 10 lakh in cash, were walking towards the Kempegowda bus station to board a bus to Kerala, the police said.

A man stopped Hakeem, stabbed him in the abdomen, and tried to snatch the cash bag from him. Hakeem resisted and handed over the bag to his employee and raised an alarm. As people started rushing towards Hakeem, the attacker ran away, the police said. Hakeem died on the spot. The Chickpet police have registered a case.

Burglars strike

Burglars struck at an officer’s house in IAF quarters in Yelahanka police station limits on Wednesday and took away gold jewellery worth Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 1,000 in cash.

The police said that between 8.45 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. thieves had entered Captain Karunanidhi’s house by breaking open the rear door. The incident came to light around 2.45 p.m. when the officer came home for lunch. The Yelahanka police have registered a case.

Robbery

A man gagged an eight-year-old boy and made away with Rs. 30,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs. 5,000 from his house in Rajagopalanagar police station limits on Wednesday.

The police said the incident took place around 1 p.m. at garment factory employee Mahadevi’s house in Sanjeevininagar in Hegganahalli. Around 12.30 p.m. when Mahadevi’s mother Lakshmi (65) and her son Prajwal (8) were at home, a stranger came there and told the elderly woman that her son-in-law had met with an accident and he is in hospital.

The stranger forced Lakshmi to accompany him to the hospital. When, after walking some distance, she told him that she was unable to walk further, the man told her that he would get an autorickshaw and made her wait. He then returned to Mahadevi’s house gagged her son and took away the cash and jewellery from an almirah, the police said. The Rajagopalanagar police have registered a case.

Goods taken away

Thieves broke open the rolling shutters of a private leather industry’s warehouse in 4th Stage, Peenya, on Wednesday and made away with leather goods worth Rs. 2 lakh. The Peenya police have registered a case.

Killed

The driver of a goods autorickshaw was killed on the spot after the vehicle overturned on Tumur Road in Peenya police station limits on Wednesday. The police gave the name of the dead as Naganna (50) of Tumkur. He was on his way to Tumkur. The Peenya traffic police have registered a case.
