Kochi: A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Thursday ordered that the release of water from the Kochupampa and Kullar dams to the Pampa river should continue till the Sabarimala season was over. The Bench comprising Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan and Justice T.R. Ramachandran Nair passed the order when the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) told the court that scarcity of water in Pampa was solved with the release of water from the two dams. The Special Commissioner in its report pointed out that the water level in the river was so low that Sabarimala pilgrims could not take a dip in the river. Plea for basic facilitiesA writ petition was filed before the High Court seeking a direction to the State government and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to take immediate steps to provide basic facilities and to solve the drinking water scarcity and shortage of Aravana at Sabarimala. The petition was filed by the Sabarimala Sree Ayyappa Dharma Parishad, Kottayam. ADGP opposes probeAdditional Director General of Police (Training) S. Pulikesi approached the High Court against the recommendations of the commission which inquired into the irregularities in the purchase of spices and other articles for the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation. The ADGP, who was the Chairman and Managing Director of the corporation from October 12, 2001, to October 4, 2004, also sought a direction to the CBI not to proceed with the investigation. According to him, the commission had not heard him before making the recommendations. The commission headed by the former district judge E.K. Muraleedharan had recommended a CBI investigation into the dealings in the corporation.
