Consumer centre to come up at Pampa

Staff Reporter

CHENGANNUR: The government will open a consumer centre at Pampa within a week to sell rice at Rs.14 per kg to Ayyappa devotees, Devaswom and Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran said on Thursday.

Speaking after inaugurating the Alappuzha District Cooperative Bank’s Ayyappa Seva Kendram near the Chengannur railway station, Mr. Sudhakaran said the government would also join hands with the Guruvayur Devaswom Board to supply free food to Ayyappa devotees at Chengannur, Erumeli and Nilackal from January 1 to 20.

As part of its efforts to provide maximum facilities to Ayyappa devotees, the government was contemplating Ayyappa seva kendrams in the forthcoming season in all panchayats. These could function under the aegis of local cooperative banks and cooperative societies, he said.
