ABVP stages dharna at OU

Demand for change in LLB 3-year syllabus

HYDERABAD: Activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Thursday took out a rally on the Osmania University campus and later staged a dharna at the administrative office demanding that the almanac be changed for the three-year LLB course.

Later, a delegation of ABVP and other students met Vice-Chancellor Suleman Siddiqui and discussed the issue with him. Kalyan, State executive committee member of ABVP claimed that the V-C had agreed to their demand of changing the calendar to ensure students continue study till November 2008.

Postponement

However, OU Registrar M. Mutha Reddy said that the V-C ruled out postponing the fifth semester examination scheduled to start from December 17. But he agreed to consider the extension of sixth semester examinations if the students gave a representation. A decision would be taken later.

When the group demanded that law college Principal G.B. Reddy be shifted from his position, the Vice-Chancellor said several other groups of students had given representation asking for his continuation as the principal.
