Telangana ‘sure’ if voted to power: Dattatreya

Sangareddy: BJP State president Bandaru Dattatreya said that the party has decided to contest the elections with a promise to carve a separate Telangana if voted to power. Addressing a press conference here Dattatreya, who was here to attend a meeting in Kandi, called upon the party cadre to get ready for an early general and assembly elections. He also announced that Prime Ministerial candidate L.K. Advani would launch the agitation for separate Telangana in January 2008. He said that Advani has agreed to organise a ‘ratha yatra’ in the region. Alleging that the Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar and Minister for Sugar and Major Industries J. Geetha Reddy connived with the sugar lobby, Dattatreya said that they have left the farmers in the lurch. Stating that his party does not oppose setting up of Special Economic Zones in the State but only opposed the way precious agricultural land has been handed over to industrialists for a song.
