Hat-trick by Paramveer Singh

HYDERABAD: Leg-spinner Paramveer Singh’s six for 32, including a hat-trick, helped MVSR Engineering College record a 41-run win over Pragathi College in the Osmania University inter-collegiate cricket tournament here on Thursday.

The scores: Nizam College 226 for six (Venu Madhav 103) bt LN Gupta 119 (Md. Haroon Rasheed 63, Siddartha five for 30).

Ram blanks Chakradhar

Ram Mohan defeated Chakradhar 9-0 in the men’s pre-quarterfinals of the Radha Smelters-JHIC inter-club tennis tournament here.

Railways beats A.P.

Indian Railways defeated Andhra Pradesh 22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15 in the league match of the fourth Kasala Ramaswamy & Laxmidevi memorial invitation volleyball tournament at Audiahnagar grounds here on Thursday.

Kaptan Singh and Mohan shone for the winner, while Kasi and Ravinder Reddy played their hearts out for the loser.

In another match, Andhra Pradesh defeated Centre of Excellence 25-15, 25-16, 25-22.

Munsiff prevails

Munsiff XI registered a 11-10 win, via sudden-death, against University XI to enter the final of the Susai memorial football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here.

The teams were locked 2-2 at regulation time with Mouzam and Ali Khan scoring for Munsiff and Zaki and Nizam for University XI.

SAI judokas excel

The Sports Authority of India (STC, Saroornagar) judokas put up a good show, winning six gold medals and a silver, in the State-level judo championship (under-19) held at Warangal.

The medallists:

Gold: N. Kumaraswamy (45-kg); Sairam (50-kg), T. Ramesh (55-kg), V. Rakesh (65-kg), K.P. Dikshit (71-kg) and Nagaraju (open category); Silver: R. Prithvi Raju (60-kg).
