All-round show by Jagannathan

CHENNAI: Jagannathan took three for 22 and top-scored with an unbeaten 83 to power Frank Worrell CC to a six-wicket win over Leo CC in the KDCA Seshadri memorial cricket tournament played here.

The scores: Leo CC 134 in 22.1 overs lost to Frank Worrell CC 137 for four in 23.4 overs (Jagannathan 83 n.o., Namasivayam 40); Mani Memorial CC w/o Tiruvallur CC; Jain Combines CC 128 in 28.5 overs (N. Suresh Kumar four for 29) lost to Prahalad CC 129 for five in 19.4 overs (D. Dharmaseelan 40 n.o.).

TN Ranji team

The following players will represent the Tamil Nadu State cricket team in the Ranji Trophy Super League match against Rajasthan to be played here from December 17 to 20:

Colombo Shipping Fraternity secured a one-run win over Vizag Container Line Association in the Tiger Line cricket series 2007 tournament here on Thursday.

Match drawn

Nethaji drew with Soccer SC 3-3, in the CFA senior division football match at the JN Stadium, on Thursday.

Guru (25th), Durai Raj (65th, penalty) and Gunasekaran (81st) scored for Nethaji, while D. Bharathi Raja (40th), Ram Kumar (67th) and T. Manikandan (72nd) were the scorers for Soccer.

The first division match between Central Excise and Challengers Union ended in a goalless draw.

Sathyabama beat Sasthra 83-44 in the Tamil Nadu inter-university basketball tournament, hosted by the Sathyabama University, here on Thursday.

Inter-college sports

The Anna Adarsh College will organise ‘Sporten’, an inter-collegiate tournament for women on Dec. 17 at the college premises. Volleyball, throwball, ball badminton and kho kho will be the events.

14-member team

A 14-member team will represent Tamil Nadu in the 69th junior and youth National and inter State table tennis championships to be held in Indore from December 16 to 21.

Death condoled

The president N. Srinivasan and the members of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) expressed their grief over the passing away of R.V. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday.

Radhakrishnan, who was actively involved with cricket, was a member of the executive committee of the TNCA and the president of Book Sellers XI. He had served in the executive committee in 2002-03.
