More than 300 SHG members participate Leaflets, pamphlets distributed TIRUCHI: A breast cancer awareness camp for the benefit of members of women self-help groups, organised by Dr. Shantha Breast Cancer Foundation (SBCF) in association with Golden City Rotary Club, Thuraiyur, and NGOs Udhayam and Gramalaya at Thuraiyur town recently, evoked overwhelming response. Dr. Hemamalini Govindaraj of the Foundation was the resource person. She explained in depth the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, breast self examination (BSE) and prevention and treatment methods through multi-media presentation. She clarified the doubts raised by the participants numbering more than 300 SHG members. A short film on breast cancer produced by the Foundation was also screened on the occasion. Leaflets and pamphlets containing details were distributed to the participants and other locals. Golden City Rotary Club president N.G. Govindan, Rotary district assistant governor Rajendran, Thuraiyur Rotary Club president Selvaraj, programme coordinators of Gramalaya and Udhayam Ramachandran and Sister Mary and others participated in the awareness programme.
