Creativity-2007 prize goes to GNIT girls

HYDERABAD: P. Swetha and her associates of G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology for Women bagged the first prize of Rs.7,500 in the ‘Creativity-2007 competition’ organised in connection with the National Energy Conservation Day here on Friday.

A cost-effective light-weight and easy to assemble wind turbine fetched her the prize at the celebrations jointly organised by the Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation of AP Ltd (NEDCAP) and Energy Conservation Mission of the Institution of Engineers, AP State centre.

C. Balakrishna Prasad and his associates of the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering won the second prize of Rs.5,000 for their item on sustainable energy source.

A. Raghu Raja Simha and his associates of the Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology and V. Deephi Sree and her associates of JNTU College of Engineering were awarded consolation prizes of Rs.3,000 each. Their items were ‘hydel power plant for rural electrification’ and ‘micro hydro power system’ respectively.
