Farmers panel visit to market yard questioned
ADILABAD: The all-party committee to study farmers’ problems faced some opposition at the Adilabad agriculture market yard on Friday as its 10 members sought to interact with farmers there. A few persons, said to be employees of cotton purchasers, questioned the team members about the intention of their visit.
The committee members were taken aback when they were told by the persons in question that cotton trade suffered because of such unnecessary visits.
The team members including Telugu Rythu State general secretary Nallapu venkateswara Rao, MLC Pogaku Yadagiri, AP Rythu Sangham general secretary Kolli Nageswara Rao, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh general secretary Sampat Rao and All India Kisan Sangh vice-president Sai Reddy questioned market committee secretary Ram Reddy who however, walked out of the meeting.
