BANGALORE: A man with criminal antecedents and a bullion trader from Kerala were stabbed to death in two incidents reported from Banaswadi and Chickpet police station limits on Wednesday.

The police said that around 9 p.m. three men waylaid Zakria (26), a resident of Babusapalya, near Kullappa Circle in Banaswadi, and stabbed him in the chest and abdomen. He died on the spot.

According to the police, Zakria, an accused in an attempt to murder case, was released from jail 15 days ago. The Banaswadi police, who have registered a case, suspected that his rivals could have murdered him.

In the other incident, a man stabbed Hakeem (30), a gold trader from Kerala, and tried to snatch his bag containing Rs. 35 lakh in cash.

The incident took place around 9.45 p.m. at the crowded Chickpet Circle when Hakeem and his employee, who was carrying another bag containing Rs. 10 lakh in cash, were walking towards the Kempegowda bus station to board a bus to Kerala, the police said.

A man stopped Hakeem, stabbed him in the abdomen, and tried to snatch the cash bag from him. Hakeem resisted and handed over the bag to his employee and raised an alarm. As people started rushing towards Hakeem, the attacker ran away, the police said. Hakeem died on the spot.
