BHUBANESWAR: The 18th conference of the Orissa unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) will begin at the Club House of Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Saturday. The conference will continue till Monday. According to secretary of the party’s State unit Janardan Pati, newly-elected representatives of 22 District Committees of the party in the State will attend the conference. Party general secretary Prakash Karat is scheduled to address the open session of the conference at Bali Yatra Ground on Monday. The conference will discuss about various issues, including farmers’ problems in the context of the agitation against the government’s move to allow industries to take water from Hirakud reservoir and allotment of large tracts of land for setting up of industries.
